Assuming that your Gboard has been updated, all you’ll need to do is hold down the microphone icon located on the space bar for a second or two before releasing it. If done correctly, a screen with a microphone icon will appear, after which, all you need to do is to speak into your phone. From there, the phone will transcribe your words into the text field, ready to be sent out.

Besides voice transcription, Gboard for iOS will now be able to support 15 additional languages. The 15 languages are:

  • Croatian
  • Czech
  • Danish
  • Dutch
  • Finnish
  • Greek
  • Polish
  • Romanian
  • Swedish
  • Catalan
  • Hungarian
  • Malay
  • Russian
  • Latin
  • American
  • Spanish
  • Turkish

On top of that, the update will also allow Gboard for iOS to support all of the latest emojis that iOS 10 has to offer.

Rounding up the update, Gboard for iOS users can now view the latest “Google Doodle” directly from the keyboard itself. When a new Doodle goes live, the Google button on the keyboard will receive an animation. Tapping on the button will open up a small space just above the keyboard that will show you the latest Doodle.

Seeing as Google has made no mention of whether or not this update will be heading towards the Android version of Gboard, it appears that these features will be iOS-only for now.
