Codemade is a Pinterest-Style Tech Project Sharing Site

Most frontend developers rely on GitHub for their everyday code sharing needs. But, what about building projects for a more technical engineering community?

That’s the goal of Codemade, a free open source Pinterest-style platform for sharing cool projects. Instead of organizing by language, it lists projects by underlying technologies: Nvidia, Arduino, AI, and Raspberry Pi are just a few examples.

This site feels like an engineering lover’s best friend. If you have a passion for writing code and building physical projects you will love Codemade.

You can search projects by name or by feature using the top search bar. You can also search by popularity or organize projects based on technology.

There are so many cool projects you can build using smaller chipboards such as home automation tools and science fair ideas for kids. Codemade can help you find these ideas and help you make them yourself.

You don’t necessarily have to create the project yourself to submit it to the site. Instead, you can source projects from all over the web and organize them on your own personal Codemade boards.

Take for example this project teaching how to create an IoT growbox. That page links to an article but it’s curated on a board titled Intel edison projects. This is a user-created board and it works just like Pinterest.

Here are some of the categories you’ll find on Codemade:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Wearables
  • Particle
  • Alexa
  • Arduino
  • Raspberry Pi

The site even curates top contests for developers who want to build their own projects from scratch.

I really like the idea behind Codemade and I hope it continues to grow. For sharing code and cool projects, it’s a unique resource. And, if Pinterest is any indicator of success I would say this site has a bright future ahead.
